Italian Actor Neri Marcorè Turns 60, Celebrates Decades in Film, TV and Theatre

Neri Marcorè, the 60‑year‑old Italian actor, imitator, director, voice‑over artist, musician and television host, reaches his birthday on 31 July. Born in Porto Sant’Elpidio in the Marche region, he entered entertainment via radio and gained national fame in the late 1980s after winning a episode of La Corrida.

His television career includes long‑running collaborations with Serena Dandini on shows such as Pippo Chennedy Show, L’ottavo nano and Parla con me, and a decade as the face of the reading programme Per un pugno di libri. In cinema he earned acclaim for his role in Pupi Avati’s Il cuore altrove and appeared in titles including La seconda notte di nozze, the Smetto quando voglio trilogy, Sei mai stata sulla luna? and Uno di famiglia.

In recent years Marcorè has moved behind the camera, directing the film Zamora, adapted from a Roberto Perrone novel. On stage he debuted the tribute show Un certo signor G. to honour Giorgio Gaber in 2008 and later co‑performed Attenti a quei due with singer‑songwriter Luca Barbarossa through 2009‑10.
