Italian actors discuss regional identity and cinema in new productions

Actor Cristiano Caccamo has returned to his native Calabria to film the upcoming Canale 5 series “Madre Terra, il segreto delle origini”. The six-part production features Caccamo in a role connected to the processing of bergamot, a symbolic regional resource. During filming, the actor explored various locations, including the Reggio Calabria area and Taurianova, highlighting local resources such as the annone fruit.

In a separate production, actor Giuseppe De Domenico discusses his portrayal of magistrate Rosario Livatino in the miniseries “Livatino – Il giudice e i suoi assassini”. Directed by Michele Placido, the series explores the final two years of the life of the judge, who was assassinated by the Stidda in 1990. The production, a co-production involving Rai Fiction, is scheduled to air on Rai 1 and RaiPlay on November 9 and 10.
