Italian agricultural officials discuss regional funding and aquaculture

Agricultural leaders and government officials in Italy held meetings to discuss regional development and sector-specific challenges.

In the Lazio region, ANBI Lazio President Lino Conti met with Regional Councilor Giancarlo Righini to coordinate activities regarding land reclamation and food sovereignty. Conti noted a significant increase in resources for the maintenance of ditches and canals, including the acquisition of substantial EU funds via the region. Discussions also addressed requests for increased agricultural diesel and the prioritization of irrigation systems to combat climate change.

In Trentino, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF) Patrizio La Pietra visited OP Astro in Lavis. Accompanied by representatives from API and Confagricoltura, the visit focused on the trout farming and freshwater aquaculture sectors. Key topics included the need for continuous financial support to foster innovation, the management of brown trout releases in waterways, and the simplification of water concessions to ensure the competitiveness of mountain food production.
