Italian agricultural producers highlight local cultivars and organic methods

Several Italian agricultural enterprises are gaining recognition for their focus on preserving local biodiversity and utilizing organic farming methods.

In Tuscany and Umbria, Podere Ricavo is working to protect the rare Minuta di Chiusi olive cultivar, producing the Sacrapone monocultivar extra virgin olive oil through low-temperature extraction and nitrogen preservation.

In Puglia, Azienda Sacco has focused on the Peranzana olive variety in Torremaggiore. Their organic extra virgin olive oil recently earned an Extra Gold medal at the Premio Biol 2026, noted for its herbaceous profile and careful oxidation protection.

In Emilia-Romagna, Cantina VentiVenti has expanded production from 8,000 to approximately 70,000 bottles. The winery specializes in the Metodo Classico, utilizing local varieties such as Lambrusco di Sorbara, Pignoletto, and Ancellotta while implementing sustainable agronomic practices.
