Italian Air Force rescues injured hiker in Zingaro Nature Reserve

An Italian Air Force HH-139B helicopter from the 82nd Search and Rescue Center conducted a rescue operation at the Zingaro Nature Reserve on October 1. A 28-year-old woman was injured during a hike and became trapped in the difficult terrain.

Following a request from the Palermo-Trapani 118 emergency center and the Sicilian Alpine and Speleological Rescue team, the military helicopter deployed an aero-rescuer and a technician via winch to recover the woman. She was transported to Castellammare del Golfo, where an ambulance took her to the nearest hospital.
