Italian ANPI honours WWII partisans in Lezzeno and prepares Viterbo Liberation festivities

The National Association of Italian Partisans (ANPI) organised a commemorative visit to Lezzeno on Lake Como on 9 May. About 30 participants from the Sedriano‑Vittuone section, together with volunteers, restored and paid tribute at the restored grave markers of Elisa Restelli and Giampiero Pozzi, young resistance fighters killed by fascist forces in 1944. The ceremony included a moment of silence, a communal lunch and a brief visit to the Madonna del Ghisallo sanctuary.

In Viterbo, ANPI is preparing for the 80th anniversary of Italy’s Liberation on 25 April 2025. The provincial committee, led by president Enrico Mezzetti, will host a public rally that starts at 09:00 in Piazza San Sisto, proceeds to the Liceo “Mariano Buratti” for a tribute to the institute’s namesake martyr, then moves through Via Cavour to the war memorial. The event will feature the laying of laurel wreaths at the Almadiani church and the Sacrario ai Caduti, speeches by the mayor, provincial president and ANPI officials, and performances by student, labour and cultural groups.
