Casalesi clan kidnaps and assaults merchant, 11 arrested in Naples and Caserta

Police investigating the Camorra’s Casalesi clan seized, beat and robbed a luxury‑goods dealer in Portico di Caserta. The victim was first approached by clan members, then taken to an isolated location where he was threatened with video calls from prison and forced to surrender cash, a high‑value watch and car‑key bundles. The assault was carried out with a firearm and resulted in severe injuries.

The anti‑mafia Directorate and the mobile squad of the Naples and Caserta police units gathered evidence, leading to the arrest of eleven suspects on charges of kidnapping for extortion, robbery, assault, illegal weapon use and mafia‑type crime. The operation demonstrated the clan’s method of intimidation, involving coordinated threats, the use of stolen vehicles as rams and a network that spans both provinces. Background reporting highlights the Casalesi clan’s hierarchical structure, its infiltration of legitimate businesses and its reliance on extortion to fund illegal activities.

The arrests represent a significant step in disrupting the clan’s criminal operations and underline the importance of victim cooperation and coordinated law‑enforcement action against organized crime in southern Italy.
