Italian Archaeological Sites Host Classical Theatre Performances

The Area Archeologica di Caposele staged “Odissea – Il mio nome è nessuno” on 25 July, an adaptation of Homer directed by Francesco Polizzi and featuring original music by Franco Accascina. The production blended poetry, music and theatre to portray Odysseus’s journey, with the director describing it as “un’Odissea ad uso di anime perse”. Tickets sold out quickly, prompting a temporary halt to online sales and a limited on‑site availability.

Two days later, the Parco archeologico di Septempeda presented “Le scelte impossibili degli eroi” on 27 July, a free performance by the Teatri di Sanseverino. The show, part of the regional Tau festival, highlighted dilemmas from ancient writers such as Homer, Sophocles, Euripides, Virgil and Seneca, using actors Gabriela Eleonori and Giovanni Moschella to give voice to classic heroes.
