Italian Army opens recruitment for 2,300 volunteer positions
The Italian Ministry of Defense has announced a public recruitment call for the first block of 2,300 Volunteers in Initial Fixed-Term Service (VFI) within the Italian Army. Applications must be submitted exclusively online and will remain open until November 11, 2026, for candidates born between November 11, 2002, and November 11, 2008.
A significant change in this recruitment cycle is the extension of the initial service duration, which has increased from one year to a minimum of three years. Completing this training is considered a merit-based qualification that can facilitate future careers within the Armed Forces, Police Forces, or Public Administration.
The available positions are divided into general roles and specialized technical or artisanal profiles. Of the total, 2,212 positions are for general assignments. The remaining 88 roles are reserved for specialists, including aircraft technicians, masons, carpenters, vehicle mechanics, equestrian operators, blacksmiths, electricians, and plumbers. Specific certifications, such as aeronautical maintenance licenses or professional diplomas, are required for these specialized roles. Selection processes will take place at Army Selection Centers located in Foligno, Bari, Milan, Palermo, and Rome.
