Italian Army opens recruitment for 2,300 volunteers
The Italian Army has opened a public competition to recruit 2,300 Volunteers in Initial Fixed-Term Service (VFI) for the first block of 2027. The application period is open until November 11.
The recruitment drive targets young people between the ages of 18 and 24, specifically those born between November 11, 2002, and November 11, 2008. Candidates will undergo evaluations at selection centers in Foligno, Bari, Milan, Palermo, and Rome. The assessment process includes physical efficiency tests, psycho-physical medical examinations, and aptitude tests to determine suitability for service.
Successful candidates will sign a three-year initial term with the possibility of annual extensions. The program offers pathways for career progression, including the ability to apply for police force positions after 12 months of service and for fixed-term military positions after 24 months. Training is expected to begin in May 2027. Of the 2,300 available positions, 88 are designated for technical roles.
