Italian Army orders Ineos Grenadier off-road vehicles
The Italian Army has placed a substantial order for the Ineos Grenadier, making Italy the first NATO country to secure a significant quantity of the British-made off-road vehicle for its armed forces. While the specific number of vehicles and the total contract value have not been disclosed, the regional distributor ATflow is scheduled to begin deliveries in early 2027.
The military version of the Grenadier is derived from the civilian model but includes specific modifications for defense use, such as different body configurations, varying wheelbases, and rigid axles designed to handle heavy loads and difficult terrain. The vehicle's construction is intended to facilitate field maintenance.
This procurement follows a similar agreement with the Austrian government. In Austria, the company Valentin Tusch has secured a contract to supply modified Grenadiers with enhanced protection for defense and internal security forces, with deliveries and testing expected to begin by the end of this year. These contracts mark a strategic shift for Ineos Automotive from supplying police and emergency services to securing direct defense contracts within NATO member states.
