Italian Army soldier arrested after Molotov cocktails found in car

An Italian Army sergeant was arrested in Somma Vesuviana, near Naples, after three Molotov cocktails were discovered in his vehicle following a car accident. The collision occurred on Wednesday afternoon between a Toyota, driven by the 45-year-old soldier, and a Fiat Panda carrying a married couple.

During the emergency response, Carabinieri officers found one Molotov cocktail broken from the impact, a second partially emptied, and a third intact and ready for use. Bomb disposal experts from the Naples Provincial Command were called to secure the area.

The soldier was treated at the Santa Maria delle Grazie hospital in Nola for injuries and received a ten-day medical prognosis. He has since been transferred to Poggioreale prison on charges of illegal possession of explosive material.
