Italian art exhibitions feature Sergio Bolgeri and Baroque masterpieces
Several art exhibitions and museum updates are underway in Italy. In Alghero, the “Homatge” exhibition dedicated to painter Sergio Bolgeri is on display at the Bonaire Contemporanea gallery until October 18, 2026. The Obra Cultural de l’Alguer, supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna and Fondazione Alghero, organized the event to highlight Bolgeri’s diverse techniques and themes. The organization's president, Pino Tilloca, has also called for the creation of a permanent museum space in the city to house municipal artworks.
In Bologna, the Pinacoteca nazionale di Bologna has introduced a new exhibition section focused on 17th-century nude painting. This initiative follows the loan of Artemisia Gentileschi’s “Susanna e i vecchioni” to a museum in Florence. To fill the space, the gallery is displaying works from its reserves, including “San Giovanni Battista” by Michele Desubleo and a version by Flaminio Torri and Simone Cantarini. These pieces are intended to engage in dialogue with existing masterpieces by artists such as Giovanni Lanfranco and Giovanni Battista Gaulli, showcasing the evolution of Bolognese painting styles.
