Italian art heritage: Capponi painting restored and CK23 exhibition announced

In Taggia, the 1699 oil painting ‘Annunciazione’ by Giacinto Capponi has been restored and returned to the Oratorio della Confraternita SS. Trinità. The restoration, conducted by Riccardo Bonifacio and Isa Di Candia, involved consolidating the canvas, repairing tears, cleaning the surface, and recovering original colors. The discovery of Capponi’s signature provides new research opportunities regarding his work and connections to local 17th and 18th-century workshops.

Meanwhile, the 26th edition of the morrArte festival, titled ‘Il tempo del colore’, features contemporary artist Federica Tondini (CK23). The exhibition creates a dialogue between Tondini’s work and historical masterpieces, including frescoes from the school of Luca Signorelli and Giorgio Vasari’s ‘Incoronazione della Vergine’. The displays are hosted at the Oratorio di San Crescentino in Morra and the Cappella Vitelli in Città di Castello, remaining open to the public until December 13, 2026.
