Italian athletes claim karate bronze and boxing medals at European championships

Romano Gabriele of ASD Epomeo Bracciano secured a bronze medal at the Italian Junior Karate Championships in Ostia on June 20‑21, 2026, after advancing through a recovery bracket with three consecutive wins (8‑0, 6‑0, 2‑1). His performance earned him a black belt for sporting merits.

Ermes Di Francesca, a trainer from Buccinasco, served on the staff of the Italian national boxing team at the European Elite Championships in the Czech Republic. Italy captured six medals: gold for Giacomo Giannotti (65 kg), silver for Melissa Gemini (75 kg), and bronzes for Salvatore Attrattivo (50 kg), Chiara Mosetti (48 kg), Christian Sarsilli (80 kg) and Chiara Saraiello (70 kg). Di Francesca highlighted the weeks of preparation at the Olympic centre in Assisi and praised the collective effort that led to the team’s success.
