Italian athletes secure medals at European championships in Turkey

Italian athletes achieved notable success at various European championships held in Turkey. In the Formula Kite European Championships in Akyaka, Riccardo Pianosi secured a bronze medal. Despite a difficult start in the decisive regatta that relegated him to fourth in the absolute championship final, his performance earned him a significant continental podium. In the women’s category, France’s Lauriane Nolot took the title, ahead of the Netherlands’ Jessie Kampman and Switzerland’s Elena Lengwiler.

In Kocaeli, the Italian Paralympic swimming team demonstrated strong performance during the penultimate day of the European Championships. The team added 12 medals—five gold, two silver, and five bronze—bringing their total to 51 medals, including 25 golds. Carlotta Gilli led the charge with a double gold in the 200m individual medley SM13 and 50m freestyle S13. Other notable winners included Antonio Fantin, who secured gold in the 50m freestyle S6, and Letizia Milesi, who earned a European title.

While Russia remains ahead in the overall medal count, Italy maintains a high standing in the European swimming landscape.
