Italian athletes win world fencing gold and 800m national title

Gaia Caforio, Alberta Santuccio, Giulia Rizzi and Rossella Fiamingo captured the women's foil world championship, earning Italy its first gold in the event. The quartet, coached by Dario Chiadò, benefited from the support of Inalpi, which sponsors the Foil Grand Prix Trofeo Inalpi in Turin and backs the Accademia Scherma Marchesa di Torino where Caforio trains.

In athletics, Eloisa Coiro secured her fifth Italian 800‑metre title at the 2026 national championships in Florence, finishing in 2:00.70 after a personal‑best 1:58.42 run in Rabat. The 22‑year‑old, also a Luiss University master's student, set her sights on the upcoming European Championships in Birmingham.

Both victories highlight a strong period for Italian sport, with athletes achieving success on the world stage and at home while balancing academic and professional commitments.
