Italian authorities arrest suspect in Diviesti murder investigation

Authorities in Bari and Andria have executed a precautionary detention order against a suspect allegedly involved in the premeditated murder of Francesco Diviesti. The crime, which occurred on April 25, 2025, is being investigated as having been carried out using mafia methods. The suspect also faces charges related to the destruction and concealment of a corpse and the illegal possession of firearms.

This arrest follows a previous operation in May involving 15 individuals suspected of roles in the murder, attempted extortion, and international money laundering. That investigation, conducted through a joint task force between Italian and Albanian authorities with Eurojust support, uncovered a structured group based in Tirana. The group allegedly used an Albanian rental company to launder over 1 million euros from Italy to Albania within a six-month period.
