Italian authorities arrest suspects in separate industrial thefts
Italian authorities have intercepted two separate industrial theft attempts in Ferrara and Belpasso.
In Ferrara, a 37-year-old man from Reggio Emilia faces charges for an attempted aggravated theft of 260 kilograms of copper cables valued at approximately 1,500 euros. The incident occurred on August 23 at a company in the Piccola Media Industria zone. Investigators believe the man acted as a lookout while accomplices broke into a foundry's electrical cabin. The suspects fled upon the arrival of the Carabinieri, abandoning the stolen goods and leaving the lookout behind to be apprehended.
In Belpasso, a 48-year-old man was arrested in the Piano Tavola industrial area after attempting to steal an electric pallet jack and various tools. The suspect reportedly cut a hole in a company fence to move the equipment outside. Carabinieri officers discovered the man hiding in nearby vegetation next to the stolen pallet jack. Police also seized burglary tools from his vehicle, which was uninsured and subsequently seized. The recovered goods, valued at over 2,000 euros, were returned to the owner.
