Italian authorities intercept stolen luxury car smuggling ring

Italian authorities have intercepted a major international vehicle smuggling operation involving stolen luxury cars intended for transport to Algeria. At the Port of Civitavecchia, Border Police seized 15 vehicles, including a Lamborghini Huracan and a Mercedes AMG Cabrio valued at approximately 500,000 euros. Investigators identified falsified documents, altered license plates, and tampered chassis numbers. The operation targeted a criminal network suspected of international vehicle laundering.

In a related legal development in Cagliari, the Court of Cagliari has ordered the release of several luxury vehicles previously seized during investigations into European automotive market intermediaries. These vehicles, which include two Porsche Cayennes, a Porsche Macan, a Mercedes AMG, and a Fiat Ducato Maxi, are being returned to the DR7 dealership. The company, located on Viale Marconi, has maintained it is a victim of the scheme, claiming intermediaries failed to meet payment obligations during transactions involving brokers.
