Italian authorities order closure of hotels in Forio and Cesenatico

Authorities in Italy have ordered the closure of two separate hospitality establishments following inspections that revealed significant legal and sanitary violations.

In Forio, an unnamed hotel was ordered to cease operations by the municipality after the Guardia di Finanza identified seven administrative violations. These included operating without the necessary single way to start activity (SCIA) or communication of takeover, failing to display minimum and maximum prices for services, and missing required regional and national identification codes (CUSR and CIN). Total fines for these irregularities amount to approximately 9,498 euros.

In Cesenatico, the Hotel Perla, a three-star establishment, was ordered to close immediately following a joint inspection by health and law enforcement agencies. Inspectors reported alarming hygienic and structural conditions, including a bedbug infestation, water infiltrations, and damaged furniture. The report also highlighted safety concerns such as exposed electrical wiring and malfunctioning ventilation, alongside poor sanitation practices involving dirty linens and unhygienic storage of clean towels.
