Italian authorities recover stolen vehicles and uncover inspection fraud
Authorities in Italy have responded to several incidents involving vehicle theft and fraudulent documentation. In Terlizzi, a stolen Iveco Daily van was discovered by a security guard blocking traffic on the S. P. 231 near the Sovereto bridge. Carabinieri arrived to secure the area and recover the vehicle.
In the Giovinazzo area, thieves attempted to steal an Audi Q8 from the Torre Gavetone residential complex. After using another Audi Q8 to push the stolen vehicle out of the area, the suspects fled. However, Carabinieri and Sicuritalia security patrols intercepted and recovered the damaged SUV in Cola Olidda, though the suspects remain at large.
In Spezia, the Highway Police uncovered a fraudulent vehicle inspection scheme. After stopping a vehicle that appeared to be in poor condition despite recent inspection records, officers discovered the certification was fictitious. Two individuals have been reported to judicial authorities for their roles in issuing the fraudulent documentation.
