Italian authorities seize 20,000 L of adulterated diesel in Abbiategrasso

The Guardia di Finanza in the Milan area confiscated around 20,000 liters of diesel fuel that had been chemically altered, deeming it highly flammable and unsafe for use. Analyses by the customs and monopoli agency revealed the fuel had been mixed with solvents, gasoline and waste vegetable oil to lower production costs and evade excise taxes.

The seizure took place at a distributor in Abbiategrasso, part of a broader inspection campaign triggered by recent fuel price hikes. The manager of the facility has been referred to the judicial authorities on charges of commercial fraud, and investigators are working to identify the source of the illicit product. The case underscores heightened regulatory scrutiny of fuel quality and tax compliance in Italy.
