Grand Hotel di Riccione seized in €29 million fraud operation
Italian financial police (Guardia di Finanza) carried out a raid on the historic Grand Hotel di Riccione, sealing around 30 units of the complex—including parking, a pool and warehouse areas—and seizing assets valued at €29 million. The hotel had been declared bankrupt in 2023 but continued to operate illegally, hosting about 15 Arab tourists who were removed by officers.
Six people are under investigation for fraudulent bankruptcy, among them former Marebello Spa manager Gianni Andreatta, a 75‑year‑old resident of Cuba. The seizure also involved properties linked to the hotel in the provinces of Rimini, Milan, Monza‑Brianza and Bari. A judicial administrator, Ugo Morganti, has been appointed to oversee the hotel, which is slated for public auction on 23 September with a base price of roughly €24 million.
