Italian authorities seize illegal clams and pet food in separate raids
In Giulianova, Italy, joint inspections by the Carabinieri, the Coast Guard and the Labour Inspectorate resulted in the seizure of 180 kg of clams at the port exit. The operation targeted violations of traceability, food‑safety and labour rules, and led to administrative measures against two individuals.
In Taranto, Italian NAS inspectors confiscated 12,500 packages of pet food after finding irregularities in labeling, origin and traceability, breaching EU Regulation 767/2009 and national decree 26/2017. The company was cited for fraud and false documentation, with fines totaling about €130,000 and criminal charges against several people.
