Italian authorities seize over €1 million of assets from ‘Ndrangheta Bagnato clan in Roccabernarda
The Italian judiciary has confirmed the definitive confiscation of assets belonging to the Bagnato ‘Ndrangheta clan in Roccabernarda, Calabria. The seizure, ordered by the Tribunal of Catanzaro’s Prevention Measures Section and upheld by the Court of Appeal, involves more than €1 million in value, including 14 agricultural plots covering about nine hectares, a house with a warehouse, two farmhouses, a shed, a tractor, agricultural equipment and numerous head of cattle.
The assets were taken as part of the “Trigarium” investigation (2017‑2019) that exposed the clan’s systematic land‑grabbing scheme, which combined intimidation of legitimate owners with falsified testaments and false usucapion claims. In December 2020 the investigation led to the arrest of several suspected members and the seizure of over a hundred farms; the current confiscation finalises that process. Simultaneously, a court order restores 90 seized farms to their rightful owners, reversing the illegal appropriation by the criminal organization.
