Italian authorities seize thousands of non-compliant Halloween items

The Guardia di Finanza has conducted widespread inspections across several Italian provinces to seize non-compliant Halloween merchandise. In Sicily, operations in Palermo and Agrigento resulted in the seizure of approximately two million irregular items, including decorations, toys, and accessories. In Carini, authorities seized over one million decorations that falsely used “Made in Italy” labels and national symbols. Other seizures in Palermo, Borgetto, Agrigento, Sciacca, Canicattì, and Raffadali involved thousands of items lacking CE markings, Italian instructions, or certifications regarding material toxicity and flammability.

In Reggio Calabria, inspections of six commercial establishments led to the seizure of over 38,000 items, such as masks, costumes, and stickers. These products lacked mandatory information regarding their origin, manufacturer, composition, and intended use. Authorities noted that the absence of these details prevents product traceability and poses potential health risks to consumers, particularly vulnerable populations.
