Italian authorities seize unauthorized businesses for environmental violations

Authorities in Italy have conducted separate operations against businesses operating without proper environmental permits.

In Canicattì, the State Police executed a preventive seizure order issued by the Court of Agrigento against a car wash. Investigations revealed the facility lacked the necessary discharge authorization and failed to maintain a required registry for special waste. This action follows a months-long inspection campaign by local police regarding discharge permits in the area.

In Succivo, Carabinieri seized an unauthorized body shop following an inspection focused on environmental compliance. The investigation identified issues with the management of both hazardous and non-hazardous special waste, uncontrolled waste disposal, and suspected illegal atmospheric emissions. Two individuals, aged 60 and 72, were reported to judicial authorities, and the site, along with machinery and vehicles, was seized to prevent further activity.
