Italian authorities shut down illegal bakery and restaurant on Adriatic and Tuscan coasts
In Grottammare, Marche region, authorities discovered a bakery and pastry lab operating without any permits. The joint operation involved the Guardia di Finanza of Ascoli Piceno, the territorial labor inspectorate and INPS, supported by soldiers from the San Benedetto del Tronto company. The illegal facility supplied bars and tourist establishments along the Adriatic coast of Marche and Abruzzo. After the inspection, the activity was suspended.
On the island of Elba, the Coast Guard of Portoferraio together with technicians from the Azienda USL Toscana Nord Ovest inspected a seaside restaurant in Capoliveri. Inspectors seized about 100 kg of fish and other food products lacking traceability documentation, found serious hygiene breaches, imposed administrative fines of €4,000 and ordered the immediate closure of the restaurant until corrective measures are taken. Both actions are part of intensified summer food‑safety checks along Italy’s coastal tourism zones.
