Italian authorities suspend businesses in Catania and Grazzanise

Police and Carabinieri have ordered the temporary suspension of several businesses in Italy following inspections regarding public safety and regulatory compliance.

In Catania, the Questore ordered a seven-day suspension for a kiosk-bar in the Cibali district and a bar-betting center in the Antico Corso area. Authorities reported that these establishments were frequently visited by individuals with criminal records, including those involved in theft, robbery, drug trafficking, and organized crime. The Cibali location was also noted for being frequented by football ultras with prior bans and individuals involved in stadium-related offenses.

In Grazzanise, inspections conducted by the Carabinieri and local health authorities at two confectionery companies resulted in one business being suspended due to hygienic and structural deficiencies. The investigations also led to legal charges against three representatives for failing to implement required workplace safety documentation, such as risk assessment reports. Fines totaling approximately 2,923 euros were issued during the operation.
