Italian authors present new books on sociology and democracy

In Italy, several prominent figures have presented new literary works focusing on sociological and political themes.

In Taurianova, Antonio Marziale, former Guarantor for Childhood and Adolescence for the Calabria Region, presented his book ‘Suggestioni sociologiche’. The event, held at Antica Traccia, featured a dialogue with writer Vincenzo Furfaro regarding contemporary social transformations, educational emergencies, and societal contradictions. The gathering included various regional officials, institutional representatives, and local associations.

At the Todi Festival, former PCI leader Achille Occhetto presented his new book, ‘Oltre il baratro: Ripensare la sinistra e la democrazia’. Moderated by Tommaso Bori, the discussion explored the future of democracy amidst rising authoritarianism, technological power, and political inequality. Occhetto’s work examines the relationship between politics and technology, specifically analyzing the dynamics between nationalism and technological globalism.
