Italian basketball authorities react to Council of State ruling on Trapani Shark

The Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) and Legabasket Serie A have issued a joint statement regarding the Council of State's ruling on appeals filed by Trapani Shark and Valerio Antonini. The appeals were directed against previous orders from the Lazio TAR that rejected requests to overturn the exclusion of the club from the 2025/26 Serie A championship and the revocation of its affiliation.

The Council of State's preliminary ruling found no flaws in the contested measures. FIP and LBA expressed satisfaction with this outcome, noting that it allows the upcoming championships to proceed as scheduled. The parties are now awaiting a final hearing from the TAR to determine the merits of the appeals and confirm the legitimacy of the original decisions.
