Italian television networks are developing new scripted content set in Tuscany.
Canale 5 is preparing to air "Erica – Una detective per caso," a three-episode miniseries produced by 7 Verticale and RTI for Mediaset. The series, directed by Ciro D’Emilio, is an adaptation of a French series based on novels by Swedish author Camilla Läckberg. Starring Vanessa Incontrada as a mystery novelist who becomes involved in a real murder case, the production was filmed in Piombino between September and October 2025.
Simultaneously, Rai is working on a new long-form melodrama produced by Banijay. The project consists of 28 episodes to be broadcast over 14 prime-time slots. Following a strategy similar to the successful series "Il Paradiso delle Signore," Rai intends to use the prime-time run to gauge audience interest before potentially transitioning the show into a daily daytime soap opera.
