Serravalle Scrivia bus driver assaulted; two youths charged

In June, a confrontation over an unpaid ticket at the bus stop of the Serravalle Scrivia railway station escalated into a physical assault on the bus driver of the Arquata Scrivia–Novi Ligure line. Carabinieri from the Rocchetta Ligure station responded after 112 calls, found the driver injured and provided emergency care with an ambulance. Video surveillance and passenger testimony allowed investigators to identify a 20‑year‑old male, already known to police, and his 24‑year‑old girlfriend as the perpetrators. Both were formally charged with interruption of public service and violence against a public officer and referred to the Prosecutor’s Office in Alessandria. The case highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of public‑transport workers in Italy.
