Italian business groups call for improved economic planning and regional innovation pacts

Business associations in Italy are calling for structural changes to economic and tourism planning. In Terni, Confartigianato Imprese and Confcommercio Umbria have criticized the current organizational model for being overly bureaucratic and reactive. They are demanding an annual, shared planning cycle to allow businesses to organize services and marketing effectively, noting that late communication prevents attracting visitors from strategic areas like Rome.

On a broader regional scale, Cna President Michele Carloni has proposed an innovation pact between the regions of Umbria, Tuscany, Lazio, Marche, and Abruzzo. This initiative aims to address the potential reduction of European funds for the 2028-2034 period and the risk of resource management becoming increasingly centralized under national governments. The proposal seeks to involve institutions, chambers of commerce, and universities to ensure regional needs are met, mirroring industrial cooperation strategies already adopted by northern Italian regions.
