Italian business initiatives focus on innovation and local welfare

In Italy, regional business organizations are focusing on innovation and local economic integration through distinct initiatives.

As part of the ‘Open Mind Tour,’ Confindustria Varese, Confindustria Bergamo, and Confindustria Emilia Area Centro organized a visit to the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra. The site serves as a strategic hub for research in cybersecurity, digital and energy transitions, hydrogen, and automotive technologies, supporting EU policies such as the Green Deal. The initiative aims to connect local managers and entrepreneurs with advanced scientific ecosystems to foster competitiveness and technological growth.

In Pieve di Soligo, a public meeting titled ‘Welfare spendable locally’ explored how corporate welfare can stimulate regional economies. Promoted by the municipality and UNISEF, the project encourages companies to allow employees to use their benefits at local businesses. Early data shows that 17 companies participating in this model have already involved over a thousand workers, generating an estimated 2 million euros in circulation across more than 50 local activities.
