Italian business research highlights reputation and leadership gaps
Research conducted by Astra Ricerca for Manageritalia among over 1,100 executives highlights a gap between the perceived importance of corporate reputation and actual investment. While 80.5% of managers believe reputation impacts customer trust and 78.4% believe it aids talent attraction, only 11.3% of companies maintain both a dedicated reputation function and a specific budget for it.
Managers distinguish reputation from image, noting that reputation is built on long-term stakeholder judgment and consistency between corporate claims and actions. Approximately 86.6% of respondents link reputation to ethical dimensions, including employee treatment and stakeholder behavior.
In a separate discussion regarding leadership at a WOBI event, data indicates a crisis of trust in the Italian workplace. Only 45% of Italian workers report trusting their supervisors, a figure significantly lower than in countries like Norway. Key issues identified include perceived favoritism, lack of involvement in decision-making, and failure of leaders to keep promises.
