Italian car insurance costs rise with high premiums in Puglia

While the national average for four-wheel vehicles reached 423 euros in the first quarter of 2026—a 3.2% increase from the previous year—the Puglia region remains one of the most expensive, with average premiums reaching 548.46 euros. Two-wheeled vehicle insurance in Puglia also shows an upward trend, averaging 485.98 euros.

A potential requirement for vehicles with Polish plates operating in cities like Naples to use Italian insurance providers faces scrutiny. Critics argue such a move could conflict with European Union principles regarding the free movement of goods and people, as current low-cost long-term rentals often utilize Polish insurance policies.
