Italian Carabinieri arrest fraudster and assist honest citizen

In Cividale del Friuli, Italian Carabinieri arrested a 19-year-old Tunisian national for impersonating a military officer to defraud an 84-year-old woman. The suspect contacted the victim by phone, claiming her vehicle was involved in a robbery and instructing her to gather cash, watches, and jewelry for a formal inspection. The suspect was apprehended in flagrante while attempting to flee with the stolen goods, valued at approximately 20,000 euros. All items were recovered and returned to the owner.

In a separate incident in Marotta, a Senegalese worker named Marieme Fall found a wallet containing 300 euros near a railway station. She immediately turned the item in to the local Carabinieri station. Authorities used identification found inside to locate the owner, Gianfranco Durazzi, who resides in France. Upon retrieving his belongings, Durazzi expressed gratitude to both the worker and the police.
