Operation Butterfly arrests three in Veneto pedophilia network
The Veneto cyber‑security unit carried out five searches across the provinces of Rovigo, Venice and Verona, resulting in three flagrant arrests for possession of large quantities of child sexual‑abuse material. The three suspects, aged 24‑52, include two residents of the Polesine area (both arrested), two from the Venetian area (one arrested), and one from Verona. Two further individuals were detained only for investigation and released.
The operation, named “Butterfly”, was directed by the Venice prosecutor's office and coordinated with the national Centre for Online Child‑Abuse Prevention (CNCPO). It originated from an international police cooperation effort. During the raids, numerous computers and storage devices were seized for forensic analysis to trace the network and identify any additional participants.
