Italian Carabinieri Forestali hold environmental education sessions in Toano and Varese

On 16 June, the Carabinieri Forestali Nucleus of Carpineti hosted an environmental education meeting in the town hall of Toano, Emilia‑Romagna. About forty citizens attended as the troops presented their daily duties in forest protection, wildlife preservation, waste management, fire‑prevention, and soil‑air pollution control. The presentation included official videos and a discussion of local activities such as checks on forest use, hunting, and collection of forest products.

Later, the Carabinieri Forestali Group of Varese conducted a similar outreach at the Kolbe parish, involving roughly seventy middle‑school students enrolled in a summer camp. The officers explained forest ecosystem importance, fire risks, plastic‑waste impacts and the CITES convention on endangered species. A canine unit demonstrated detection of poisoned bait, and a display of seized CITES items illustrated the fight against illegal wildlife trade, aiming to turn the youths into future "sentinels of nature".
