Italian Carabinieri legion commanders meet regional officials to discuss security
On 21 July 2026, General Giuseppe De Riggi, commander of the Carabinieri Legion “Lombardia”, visited the Santa Lucia barracks in Cremona. He met the provincial prefect Antonio Giannelli, reviewed public order and safety measures, and welcomed 31 newly‑assigned marshals and 10 new carabinieri reinforcing stations across Lombardy. De Riggi emphasized professional conduct, transparency and community engagement during the briefing.
Later that morning, General Enrico Scandone, commander of the Carabinieri Legion “Emilia Romagna”, held a meeting with Ferrara’s new chief prosecutor Francesco Caleca. They discussed the province’s security dynamics, reaffirmed the Carabinieri’s commitment to crime prevention and investigative work, and highlighted the importance of close coordination between the judiciary and the force. These meetings underline regional cooperation aimed at maintaining public safety across northern Italy.
