Carabinieri crackdown on fraud, illegal stables and micro‑mobility violations across Italy

Italian Carabinieri operations this week targeted several illegal activities in different regions. In Brindisi, investigators closed a preliminary probe into a physician who allegedly performed private specialist visits during public‑service hours, accepted cash payments of up to €100 per visit, falsified reports and used public staff without authorization, causing an estimated loss of about €68,000 to the local health authority.

In Loreto, officers arrested two men for an aggravated fraud against a 63‑year‑old woman. The suspects posed as a Carabinieri marshal and a civilian officer, tricking the victim into handing over €4,670 in cash and gold jewellery, which was fully recovered and will be returned to her.

In Librino (Catania province), a joint Carabinieri–police–veterinary inspection uncovered an unregistered horse stable. The owner was fined €6,500 for failing to register the facility and for breaching animal‑health regulations.

Separately, Carabinieri in the Bari metropolitan area conducted a coordinated micro‑mobility sweep, checking nearly 200 users of electric scooters and bikes. Officers issued 137 administrative fines totaling roughly €12,000, mainly for not wearing helmets, missing mandatory stickers and lacking turn‑signal lights.
