Italian Carabinieri seize weapons and make dozens of arrests in regional crackdowns

The Carabinieri reported extensive enforcement actions in two Italian regions. In Sicily, operations centered on Termini Imerese and surrounding towns resulted in 161 people identified, 74 vehicles inspected and 29 traffic fines totaling €11,126. Authorities detained nine individuals driving without a licence, four for driving under the influence, and seized hashish and marijuana from eight persons. Additional arrests included a 17‑year‑old caught with an illegal metal stun‑gun and a 32‑year‑old found with 118 dubious perfume packages.

In Apulia, the Bari provincial command disclosed that, in the first half of the year, coordinated raids led to nine arrests and 36 citations. officers seized 41 firearms – including ten hunting rifles and 31 pistols – along with 214 bullets, 528 cartridges and nine knives. Notable seizures involved a 40‑year‑old who possessed a loaded .22 rifle and other weapons, and a hidden firearm discovered in a building’s drainage system. The operations emphasized both repression and prevention, targeting illegal weapon circulation and youth‑related violence.
