Italian Chamber of Deputies presents 2026 legislation report
The Italian Chamber of Deputies has presented its 2026 legislation report, focusing on the increasing use of decree-laws, the reliance on secondary sources, and the need for greater regulatory quality. During the presentation at the Lazio Regional Council, Vice President of the Chamber Anna Ascani highlighted the risks of political polarization and the importance of maintaining loyal parliamentary debate to ensure citizens do not feel disconnected from decision-making processes.
Key concerns raised include the growing weight of decree-laws, the precarious nature of current laws, and the increased use of legislative delegation. To improve citizen engagement, an artificial intelligence-based chatbot will be utilized to provide natural language responses regarding the report's contents. Additionally, reforms concluded in September 2025 are expected to be applied in the next legislature to enhance the efficiency and awareness of the deliberative process.
