Italian Chamber of Deputies to invest over 8 million euros in modernization
The Italian Chamber of Deputies is planning to invest more than 8 million euros to modernize its facilities, specifically focusing on audio-visual and voting technologies. These upgrades aim to replace aging systems that have not been serviced for decades and face a shortage of replacement parts, which threatens the continuity of vital institutional services such as voting and live broadcasting.
The modernization project includes the installation of a new voting system for deputies, advanced displays, and biometric recognition systems. This follows previous investments, such as the 2025 budget of approximately 2.6 million euros which included the replacement of microphones and improvements to the video system. The 2026 internal budget continues this trajectory, focusing on updating voting terminals with hardware and software that meet current functionality and security standards.
