Italian charities launch school supply drives for families in need

Various charitable initiatives are underway across Italy to collect school supplies for families facing economic difficulties ahead of the new academic year.

In Spoleto, the “Zaino Sospeso” project, promoted by the Municipal Youth Council in collaboration with the Diocesan Caritas of Spoleto-Norcia, is collecting notebooks, pens, pencils, and coloring materials. The collection remains open until September 20, 2026, with donations made at participating retail outlets to be distributed to local families in need.

In the Lombardy and Piedmont regions, Nova Coop is hosting the “Dona la Spesa per la Scuola” campaign. On September 5, customers at 64 participating stores in areas such as Luino, Tradate, and Castano Primo can donate stationery and educational items. This initiative works with approximately 70 local non-profit organizations and third-sector entities to distribute materials to disadvantaged households.
