Italian cinema highlights new works by Zanasi and Amelio

New Italian films were highlighted during recent cinematic presentations in Rome. Gianni Zanasi presented ‘È andata così’ at the Rome Film Festival, a bittersweet comedy exploring themes of failure, the difficulty of letting go of the past, and the struggle to accept the end of relationships.

In a separate work, director Gianni Amelio’s latest film, ‘Nessun dolore’, follows a used book seller played by Alessandro Borghi. The narrative explores themes of guilt and responsibility after the protagonist is unexpectedly tasked with caring for a child, leading to a series of events that challenge his quiet, routine existence.
