Italian Cinema: New Film Premieres at Rome Film Festival and Scicli

At the Rome Film Festival, director Francesco Bruni presented the premiere of ‘Il profilo dell’altra’, an adaptation of Irene Graziosi’s novel. The film explores the complex relationship between Antonia, a former writer working as a waitress in Milan, and Cecilia, a prominent teenage content creator. Bruni noted that actress Pilar Fogliati secured the lead role through a surprising audition, choosing to depart from her established acting style to portray the character.

In Scicli, actress Anna Foglietta and actor Guido Caprino presented ‘Una Storia’ at the Nuovo Cine Teatro Italia. The film, which marks Foglietta’s directorial debut, follows a provincial couple, Erika and Mauro, as they navigate a domestic crisis triggered by their daughter leaving home. During the presentation, Foglietta discussed themes of hyper-representation and the modern tendency to use digital distractions to avoid self-reflection.
