Italian cities address bridge safety and opening procedures

In the province of Lucca, authorities awarded design contracts for the structural restoration of the historic Ponte di Sant’Ansano in Ponte a Moriano. After emergency repairs funded with €1.2 million, the project will assess the feasibility of a partial reopening to vehicles. An additional €250 000 has been allocated from surplus funds, and the work involves local engineers, architects and geologists.
